Taste:
7.5 (of 10)
Note:
The taste of this Gewurztraminer begins with dry, light flavors of honey, figs, vanilla and spices. It's a very nice beginning that sadly doesn't carry through to the end. There's a bitterness at the end of the taste that really detracts from the flavor. It starts well enough but stumbles at the finish line.
Total:
15.5 (of 20)
Food:
When I tasted the Yarden Gewurztraminer ealier this year I had it with tilapia and it's only a coincidence that I had the same fish (different sauce) with this wine as well. This time it was prepared in a cajun sauce, which I thought would go well with the typical spicy edge of a Gewurztraminer, along with snow peas and wild rice. The fish was terrific but this Gewurztraminer from Abarbanel didn't quite hold up its end of the bargain. Too bad.
