Teal Lake Chardonnay

Winery: Teal Lake Winery

Year: 2004

Type: White

Country: Australia (South Eastern)

Grape Variety: Chardonnay

Note:

Alcohol: 13.5%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 12/7/06

Color: 2.5 (of 3)

Note: A light, crisp golden straw color.

Aroma: 6 (of 7)

Note: A pleasant aroma of lemon, honey, vanilla and nuts. Not too sweet.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: A smooth Chardonnay with nice flavors of honey, vanilla, figs, lemon, nuts and oak. It's one of the better Chardonnay's I've had in a while with a smooth, creamy texture and flavors that don't overpower the meal. The oak flavor is stronger than most other Chardonnay's and gives it a quiet maturity that is often lacking in todays wines. A very good white.

Total: 17 (of 20)

Food: I enjoyed it with pasta with cheese and tomatoes. It would also go well with fish, particularly flounder or tilapia, or better yet, trout grilled on a cedar plank. That's the ticket!
