Tishbi Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

Winery: Tishbi Estate Winery

Year: 2005

Type: White

Country: Israel

Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Note:

Alcohol: 13%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 11/26/06

Color: 2.5 (of 3)

Note: A crisp, clean, clear sunshine straw color. It sparkles in the glass.

Aroma: 6 (of 7)

Note: Soft aroma's of peaches and apricots. A very pleasant scent.

Taste: 8 (of 10)

Note: A good, but not great, Sauvignon Blanc with rich peach and apricot flavors with a tart, dry finish. The fruit is very nice but the end of the taste is dull and lacking any real distinguishing character. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

Total: 16.5 (of 20)

Food: I had it with cajun-seasoned talapia and wild rice. The wine was a little light for the spices on the fish and a Pinot Noir would have done better. A light fish done in a cream or butter sauce would go better with this Sauvignon Blanc.
