Fortant Chardonnay

Winery: Les Vins Skalli

Year: 2003

Type: White

Country: France (Sete)

Grape Variety: Chardonnay

Note:

Alcohol: 12.5%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 11/16/06

Color: 2 (of 3)

Note: A light golden straw color.

Aroma: 6 (of 7)

Note: Sweet scents of honey and butter along with figs, vanilla and a touch of lemon.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: A tart and tangy taste that is a bit strong for some people, but I liked its complex combination of honey, nuts, figs, vanilla and butter flavors along with a strongly oak flavored finish.

Total: 16.5 (of 20)

Food: I enjoyed this tart Chardonnay from Fortant with grilled chicken cut into pieces and layed atop a fresh green salad. Add a little Italian dressing and it's a very healthy meal. And a pretty good Chardonnay, as well.
