Shemesh Sauvignon Blanc Fume

Winery: Noah Winery

Year: 2004

Type: White

Country: Israel (Dan Region)

Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Note:

Alcohol: 13%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 10/6/06

Color: 2.5 (of 3)

Note: A very rich golden honey color with great clarity.

Aroma: 5.5 (of 7)

Note: Lively and energetic scents of lemon, honey and flowers.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: A medium dry white wine with a heavy, yet creamy, texture. It's aggressively tart with flavors of lemon, honey, flowers and a slight fig taste at the end. There's a slight smokey taste that comes out in the finish. It's a strong flavor and one that doesn't sit well by itself. You need to have this with the right meal to enjoy it.

Total: 16.5 (of 20)

Food: I had it with a quiche and green beans in soy sauce with sesame seeds and this Sauvignon Blanc Fume was a nice pairing. This may also be the right wine to have with lox.
