Yarden Chardonnay

Winery: Golan Heights Winery

Year: 2003

Type: White

Country: Israel

Grape Variety: Chardonnay

Note:

Alcohol: 14%

Mevushal: No

Date Reviewed: 9/23/06

Color: 2 (of 3)

Note: It's a very light golden straw color, though it's a little thin. You can read through it. I prefer Chardonnay's to be thicker and creamier in appearance.

Aroma: 6 (of 7)

Note: There's a strong floral and honey scent along with citrus and softer vanilla and spice aroma's.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: Well balanced between citrus fruits and oak, vanilla, butter and fig flavors along with a spicy finish. You seem to step through all the flavors in sequence as you taste the wine. The taste unfolds in front of you.

Total: 16.5 (of 20)

Food: The Yarden Chardonnay was a good choice for tonights Rosh Hashanah meal of sesame chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and a terrific apple cake. It's a very good wine with chicken.
