Color: 2 (of 3)

Note: A thin lemony-yellow straw color.

Aroma: 5.5 (of 7)

Note: A strong floral scent with lots of honey and butter along with a lemon citrus scent.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: This is a surprisingly complex Chardonnay with smooth flavors of oak, citrus, honey, vanilla, flowers and nuts. No flavor dominates the tatse for long and they blend very well. It's a softer flavor than many of the other Chardonnay's, that often havea dominant citrus or tropical fruit flavor. Here, the extra time in the barrels has given the wine a more even balance in flavors and a more subdued style. If you find other Chardonnays too tart, you might really like this.

Total: 16 (of 20)

Food: I enjoyed this Chardonnay from Herzog with a Rosh Hashanah meal of chicken, rice, asparagus, challah and, of course, apples and honey. The wine was a very nice compliment to the chicken. Let it breath for 15 minutes before drinking so the flavors open up and it's not too cold.
