Color:
2.5 (of 3)
Note:
A creamy golden color. Very
good legs on the glass. It looks like a wine of some substance
and character.
Aroma:
6 (of 7)
Note:
Aroma's of sweet fruitiness
with butter and a hint of spice.
Taste:
8.5 (of 10)
Note:
It starts off sweet with flavors
of pears, peach and mango and finishes spicy with a bit of
a white pepper taste. There's a real variety among Gewurztraminers.
Some lean toward sweetness and some are very spicy and have
to be paired with foods carefully. The Yarden is nicely balanced,
slightly more toward the fruity side, almost like a Champagne
without the bubbles. It makes for a very nice dessert wine.
The first time I had this was at the Golan Heights Winery
in Israel and it's still one of my favorites. It's a clean
and crisp taste and a wine you'll remember.

Food:
I had it with Tilapia baked
in a spicy scampi sauce along with wild rice and asparagus
(lightly sauteed in butter). Never overcook asparagus - that's
when it gets too bitter for most wines! It was OK with the
meal but I actually enjoyed it better later by itself.
