Abarbanel Vin d'Alsace Riesling

Winery: Abarbanel

Year: 2002

Type: White

Country: France (Alsace)

Grape Variety: Riesling

Note:

Alcohol: 12%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 6/6/06

Color: 2.5 (of 3)

Note: A nice bright golden sunshine color.

Aroma: 5.5 (of 7)

Note: A mostly floral scent with some honey and fruit added to the mix.

Taste: 8 (of 10)

Note: A sweet, fruity taste of peaches and green apples. It's a bit tart at the finish. It's good, but not great. Somehow, I expected better.

Total: 16 (of 20)

Food: Believe it or not, I had it with bagels and lox. I know it's not a very traditional combination. It's hard to find the right wine for lox and I'm not convinced this is the answer. We'll have to try again...
