Aroma:

Note:
Rich and deep aroma's of cherries, blackberries, oak and tobacco mark this very good Cabernet. After 18 months in the barrel, the wood scent is strong.

Note:
The first thing that strikes me is how much more I enjoyed the '99 vintage. I thought this '02 must have spent more time in oak barrels to get such a woody flavor, but I was wrong. They both spent 18 months in oak, it's just much more pronounced here. The sweetness of the fruit flavors of black cherry and blackberry are quickly overpowered by the sharper oak, tea and tobacco flavors. It has great body, rich tannins and a long, dry finish. Overall, an impressive wine but it makes me long for the '99.

Food:
I enjoyed this Cabernet Sauvignon with sweet and sour meatballs with rice and it was terrific. It even went well with the chocolate rugelach we had for dessert.
