Hagafen Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Winery: Hagafen Cellars

Year: 2001

Type: Red

Country: USA (Napa Valley)

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Note:

Alcohol: 13.5%

Mevushal: Yes

Date Reviewed: 1/17/07

Color: 2.5 (of 3)

Note: A rich, dark and luxurious garnet color. Very nice!

Aroma: 6 (of 7)

Note: Strong, vibrant aroma's of black cherries, blackberries, licorice and oak.

Taste: 8.5 (of 10)

Note: Very dry with rich, deep tannins from start to finish. This Cab is filled with ripe berry flavors on one side and oak, black pepper and mild balsamic flavors on the other. The wine leans more toward acidity thatn fruit and the tannins are quite strong for a Cabernet, maybe too strong for some peoples taste, so be forwarned. It's the kind of dry red wine I really prefer but it may be too strong for some.

Total: 17 (of 20)

Food: I enjoyed this Cabernet with a grilled tuna steak marinated in a simple Italian dressing. It was really quite good and served with white corn. The wine really complimented the garlic on the fish.
