Color:
2 (of 3)
Note:
A luscious dark garnet color
with real depth and body.
Aroma:
6 (of 7)
Note:
A heavy, fruity aroma of wild
berries, plums, black grapes, wood and earth. It smells very
rich and inviting.
Taste:
8 (of 10)
Note:
Medium dry with light to medium
tannins, it's a wine that really goes well with food. Complex
blends of fruit, including plums, cherries and blackberries,
combine with cigar smoke, nuts and chewy oak with a velvet
texture and a wonderfully dry finish. Well balanced with no
single dominating flavor. When I first tasted it I wouldn't
have guessed it would score very well, but by the end of the
second glass, my opinion had changed. It reinforces my belief
that you can't judge a wine without trying it throughout the
course of a meal. The first sip doesn't tell the whole story.
The real surprise is that it's only a 2003. Give this a few
years in the cellar and it can improve.

Food:
I enjoyed this Bordeaux with
spaghetti with a home-made sauce, of course. Lots of oregano,
basil, onion, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, parsley and,
of course, garlic. There's nothing healthier for you than
pasta with garlic, fresh tomato sauce and a good Bordeaux!
