Color:
2.5 (of 3)
Note:
Dark, meaty looking garnet
color. Very good.
Aroma:
5.5 (of 7)
Note:
Lots of good black cherry,
plum and blackberry aroma's, but it's a bit acidic and that
makes it harsh.
Taste:
8 (of 10)
Note:
The Barkan is dry and fruity
with sharp tannins that make your mouth pucker. Juicy flavors
of blackberry, plum and black cherries with slight tones of
tobacco and tea. It's surprisingly good, though I think the
flavor also is too acidic. It's not so much that it ruins
the flavor or the enjoyment of the wine for what it is, but
limits its score to the bottom edge of good.
Total:
16 (of 20)
Food:
I had it with hot dogs on the
grill along with potato salad. All that was missing was the
sweet New Jersey corn on the cob from the Fourth of July.
A Cabernet Sauvignon always works with a summer barbeque!
