Color |

| Very
dark, almost blackish purple. It looks very heavy and
much richer than the Segal's. When you see them side by
side the difference is quite noticeable. |
Note |
A
bright, shining dark purple that's a little thin at the
edges. It doesn't look as full-bodied as the Yarden. |

Aroma |

| Lots
of plum, black cherry and tobacco aromas. It has more
of a berry smell than the Segal's does. |
Note |
Very
nice smells of cedar, ripe berries and cigars. There's
more of a wood smell here than the Yarden. Their both
very nice, in their own ways. |

| It
is a delicious combination of plum, black cherry, tobacco
and smoke flavors that just melts in your mouth. It has
a nice, long, dry finish that's just right. This wine
is a joy to drink and will enhance so many different meals. |
Note |
The
Segal's has beautifully complex flavors of berries, nuts,
pepper and smoke. A nice long dry finish. This is a wonderful
blending of flavors that works very well. It's sharper
than the Yarden - it doesn't have that melt in your mouth
feel that sets the Yarden apart. |

A
final word....
These
are two very good wines and it's nice to see them side
by side. The Segal's has some very interesting qualities
with complex flavors and aromas but the Yarden beats
it out with a better combination of flavor and texture.
That's
not to say they're not both recommended wines, because
they are. It's just that there is a special something
about the Yarden that edges it to the front. It just
feels so wonderful in the mouth that you keep going
back for more. There's a good reason why it won a Silver
Medal at the Vinitaly 2006 International Wine Competition. |
